If it wasn't for the paramedic's and Wales Air Ambulance i'd be dead,i spent 5 months in hospital and my injuries in total were.
Brain haemorrhage
Permanent blindness left eye
Broken jaw
Two teeth knocked out
Crushed chest
Broken pelvis/ three places
Broken femar left leg/compound
Broken femar right leg
Broken tib and fib right leg
Smashed right ankle/ foot pointing the wrong way
But apart from that i got away with it

It was my second flight on this wing and being a basejumper i couldn't get out of the habbit of flying in deep brakes and i stalled the right side of the wing whilst turning.The head wind speed was about 25mph.

"I accepted many years ago that flying parachutes can cause serious injury, or death" and now i know it will!

Watching this and feeling helpless? There's nothing worse than being on the scene and not knowing what to do to help. Get your local club to organise a FIRST AID COURSE. Ours did, and it has paid off big time - you can help your mates, or at least know you've done everything possible or you might even be on the receiving end of that help yourself!

Top vid. Thanks 4 putting up, glad U made it through this. I'm no expert, but this vid for me helps show how important it is to keep the wing always as fast +pressurized as possible, +shows how quick things go wrong in this sport. It reminds me to be conservative with conditions. Something i have been guilty of pushing. Just putting this video up will help others, +help debate, so respect man for being brave enough 2 put this out there for us all to watch. : ) U probably just saved one of us!

I'm glad you made it. That's a helpless feeling seeing the ground come up at you like that. This shows the importance of not flying alone.

What size wing was this? And, are you still flying or base jumping?

Wow, that is a hell of a video. Thanks for posting, must've taken a lot to go through and edit that little episode. The collapse, departure and impact was so sudden that it took me by surprise and I got a bit ove -ve 'G' stomach just watching it! Kudos to the calmness and good first aid drills of your oppo. And the comment at the end says it all. Here's to happier landings in the future.

We flew a hangglider there years ago, the fun police say paragliders only now though shame. Really glad that you are ok, there were some nasty noises that made me cringe.

With the increasing popularity of high wind soaring, the video provides an important lesson. The "skinny" high l/d speedwings that look like a little PG are not nearly as stable as a skydiving canopy or a "fat" speedwing. Getting aggressive with them near the ground is extremely dangerous. Hopefully others can learn from your mistake.

HI Ade. Thought that's what you did. Hope you don't mind, I've written to Skywings about their recent reveiw of the Spuriline Little Cloud. Basically saying that they should be careful about encouraging people to fly mini wings without BIG NOTICES to take care. I've included a link to this video and to your Air Ambulance appeal.
