Located in southeast Iowa, there is a baseball team that has survived for 30 years without having a home field. Since the 1970s, the PCHS team has been forced to find open pastures to hold practices until a baseball field is available. The school is currently building new academic and athletic facilities and needs financial support for the construction and maintenance of the entire athletic complex. At the moment, the school is located in the heart of Pella on eight acres: never being able to host outside sporting events except for softball. Most outside sports currently practice on a patch of grass behind the school until fields open for play. The baseball team in particular doesn't see field time until one week before the season. Despite not having a home field, the sport of baseball continues to march on due to the driving support from the PCHS family and community. This short documentary highlights the history PCHS baseball, captures the struggle to play the game and reveals the community's dream to have a home field.

  • Cry, Cry, Cry, don't go to the school if you don't like the stuff that comes with it, and its not like you guys don't use Pella Comm. stuff all the time, in my opinion, if you aren't going to support yourself in some area, then you shouldn't have that area at all. Its like starting a basketball program without a gym, kinda dumb...we're tired of listening you cry about it

  • malak684...tried to write you a nice message through youtube, but it seems you've closed your account just after you posted this response. too bad we couldn't exchange words.

again, another selfish comment to tend too. unless you have experienced the school first hand, i don't think you can appreciate what it has to offer to students and the community.

  • Hey Iowahorse, Pretty bold of you to come out and attack something you know very little about. Who's really the shameless one? I put a lot of time and effort in to this piece. Also, my time and effort (volunteer, unpaid, doing something for a worthy cause, opening your heart!!!!) doesn't even compare to the time and effort the director/producer put in. Think before you speak.

  • one thing that P.C.H.S. athletes reflect is that they play for the love of the game, not for glitz and glamour. you try playing in a cracker box gym that that can only fit a limited amount of fans. this will test your heart for the game.

*with that, best wishes. hope you turn that attitude of yours around so you can be of some use to society.

  • fifth, lack of work ethic has some interesting ties with money. working my way into playing collegiate athletics, i saw a lot of money being thrown around to some great athletes that were given every opportunity to succeed. however, some of those athletes never made the big time. why? because they didn't truly have heart and passion for their game. they didn't want it bad enough.--cont.

  • i know for a fact that there is less money handed down by those in the community (family, businesses, etc) than the government gives to the public school system. even my parents who sent myself and siblings to private school helped send you to school by paying taxes for the public school system. they never complained and instead were selfless about what they gave every year, and still do.--con't
