The mere mention of the word Africa continues to evoke, in the minds of most people, images of Tarzan and Jane, jungles and half naked cannibals cooking "civilized" white people for dinner. Very few people realize that these stereotypes, and numerous others of a similar nature, were orginally created by non-African writers, artists and movie producers. These images continue to negatively influence the thinking of millions of people worldwide. Despite the "bum rap" Africa has received over the years many of the old racist stereotypes are being challenged by Africans in the Diaspora who have accepted their African heritage, and now view themselves through culturally sensitive eyes.

@Fatimahrican There are arabs all over north africa. Berber people in north africa are not 'African' They're Mediterranean people that reside in the most northern part of africa. Egypt has a long history, Africans, Greeks and Persians, Romans , etc. have ruled and inhabited it, modern egyptians are obviously far from 'African' except for certain tribes that live in certain regions of the country.

@Wassil29 okay i'll give it to you if you want to show the people of africa then you must show ALL OF THE PEOPLE OF AFRICA.but let's be honest those white people don't consider themselves black and they don't like to be called that either.also arabs are making they way into african countries and trying to take over and make those lands theirs.plus nubains came over egypt and married the people there making them biracial and throughout history moors have been told to have dark skin so...

@Wassil29 wow, you know what? I was thinking the same thing, but now that you actually said it, it really does look that way...Africans literally come in all colors, and people tend to forget that. You even have some people call the fair-skinned Egyptians, Moroccans, Algerians, etc. "Arab"! What?!? Because they're light?? You're right, Wassil, I think people usually misconstrue African with Black only, perhaps unintentionally, though. And I know Egyptians from the whole spectrum, too! lol Peace
