I was finally successful in fixing the texture memory issues that seems to be common to many telechip based Android tablets and prevented games like Angry Birds from running. My device is an Augen Gentouch78 V2, original rom with only minor changes to the mali200 drivers.
The mali 200 openGL engine in these tablets is plenty powerful to run Angry Birds - any lagging is due to the recording; the game runs smoothly.
