Demo of Irish bouzouki which is on sale on eBay. The instrument was made in 2009 but is new and unplayed, other than odd bits by myself when setting it up etc. so it still has some playing in to do. I play a jig, a bit of rhythm and a reel. I designed the instrument to work well as both a melody and rhythm instrument and it has a punchy, rich and loud tone which works well in a session, but is also satisfying to play in quieter settings

  • Is it a hard instrument to learn Paul?

  • @jessiebodman It's easier than the violin for example. I suppose it's quite similar in technique to playing the acoustic guitar but chords are simpler as you only have four pairs of strings. I started off playing the guitar so had a head start but I've played the bouzouki for maybe 15 years, the first five or so of which I played a lot...

  • The jig is the Humours of Ballyloughlin, the reel is The Spike Island Lasses

  • Hi and thanks. I made the instrument myself. I've made a few of this model including my own personal instrument which is a five course instrument with a low D course. Tuning on this one is GDAD.
