(Sacramento) -- Assemblymember Anna Caballero (D-Salinas) urged her fellow lawmakers during a recent floor debate on state budget related legislation to give a green light to SB 863. Passage of the bill, said Assemblymember Caballero, will give counties the opportunity to immediately renegotiate their Williamson Act contracts, which are needed to preserve open space, farm and range land in California. The land conservation program established by the Williamson Act was put in place 45 years ago. Assemblymember Caballero says more than 16-million acres have been preserved under the program. Lawmakers approved the measure. Here's more from Assemblymember Caballero in this Assembly Access video.
