The bird is kissing/licking/gently nibbling the thumb. They're like love nibbles. Also, when you see its head bobbing up and down, it's regurgitating for the thumb and trying to feed it. It's a sign of affection; kind of gross but a very sweet gesture. It's a good sign and means that the bird really likes you.
