I know a similar problem. My grandmother thinks in a similar way concerning religeous questions.
(I guess she would just shoot me if i had a relationship with a non-catholic girl)

I do ignore them most of the time when it comes to sharks....And please don't get the wrong idea from the way I described them. My parents aren't bad people. They just don't trust what they don't know about

looks like they are ignorant if they dont see a sense in protecting something that is critically important for healthy oceans.
In fact: If the sharks die we will lose 70% of our oxygen. And this will cause serious trouble.
On my opinion nobody can seriously not care. Because we all need oxygen.
And how can anybody just not care while those animals get slaughtered (200.000.000 per year) just for their fins? (2% of theri weight)

cool video, if you like sharks check out adoptashark(dot)com where scientists let you adopt a shark that has a satellite tag and you find out where the shark went. They use the money to buy more tags and learn more about sharks
