This is one of the 'Trio' tracks made in New York City in April 1946 when Bunk recorded eight or so 'standard' popular songs of the day for American Music Records. (I have more, if anyone is interested).
Bunk is accompanied by Don Ewell:pno and Alphonso Steele:dms.

  • why is the end cut off?

  • @Zossarian12

YouTube have 'clipped' the end of many of my earlier postings. I don't know why -but I have found that it is better if I make the "visuals" extend past the audio track.

  • Geweldig, genieten van de hoogste orde

Het levensverhaal van Bunk is genoegzaam bekend en de bewondering groeit alleen maar

  • How lovely this is

  • Made my day to hear this, thanks! This goes right back to the source. Felt like sitting back and reading The Cricket in the barber shop, waiting for Buddy to cut my hair. Bunk had some tone.

  • @coolfinn2 can i have your input on "the broad majestic shannon" from the pogues?just curious your thoughts.

  • living as i do near the river Shannon i've heard many versions of this old song and in my opinion Bunk's knocks them all for six, The tone, the power of that horn, the man was sheer genius.

  • Knock out--much thanks.

  • I'd definitely be interested to hear the other tracks - more so for Don Ewell's piano playing than Bunk Johnson's trumpet!
