Mr Gale, a polymath, and though probably not relevant to his writing, an amazingly handsome man. And the painter in this novel was as he says, a very difficult, and one finds, unattractive woman.

Lovely to put a voice to a face - I am a great admirer of Patrick's writing and look forward very much to reading his latest novel, 'The Whole Day Through'.

Another fabulous book from a wonderful writer. I started with Tree Surgery for Beginners and have gradually worked my way through all of Patrick Gale's novels. Funny, warm and so beautifully written. An English Armistead Maupin.
