Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, Texas. This segment features Sergeant Major Harvey Gilmore (USMC, Ret.) 13 July 1925 - 7 August 1993. For many years, Sgt. Maj. Gilmore was the face of the MMA and arguably its most influential Drill Instructor. Those who knew him knew the world could use a few more like him.

    Oorah!!!

  • unbelievable, its great to see the old Bulldog himself immortalized on You Tube! He was amazing 30 years ago when I graduated MMA and will always be remembered that way. God rest and Semper Fi SgtMaj. Gilmore.

  • Sergeant Major Harvey Milton Gilmore,USMC,Ret. was my Commandant at The Sanford Naval Academy in Florida in the mid 1970's. He wrote me a letter when I was in Marine Corps Recruit Training (boot camp) in San Diego,California in 1976. How he found me, still amazes me to this day. He has influenced me in my life like no other man other than my Father and my Senior Drill Instructor; who was a boot under Sgt/Maj Gilmore @ Parris Island in the late 1960's. Long Live Sgt/Maj H.M. Gilmore! Semper Fi

  • Thanks for sharing. I was one of Gilmore's "kids". He was the most influential man in my life. Hearing his voice after all these years was simply awesome. Long live Delta Company and long live the loving memory of Sgt. Major Harvey Milton Gilmore.

  • A lot of familiar faces on that video. This was my plebe year at MMA. SGTMAJ Gilmore was a great Marine and like a father to many cadets. I look back fondly at my time in Harlingen, TX!

  • Brought back alot of memories. Not a day goes by that I don't think of SgtMaj Gilmore. Like a father to me. To so many others also Im sure.

  • I would have never thought that I would find SgtMaj Gilmore on youtube, what a great guy, and by the waywhat a great school, no matter what anybody would say think or believe, and by the way, D was for Delta Company.
