  • ...the endless chatter of human thought. I suspect that there is nothing more crucial to true spiritual comfort . . . than being able from time to time to stop that chatter -- Buechner quote, he's brilliant 

  • Vocation means "calling".

  • The pastorate is a calling, not a vocation/profession. I would encourage any young person, that if they're not called, to choose something else.

  • What a great setting to show (countryside)! Frederick Buechner's honesty is one of his greatest qualities as a writer; I have appreciated him for years. Vocation seems to be a life-long search for some of us.
