  • Is any of these methods practical for real ancient combat? Or is it just as an art and exercise? I am very interested in learning how to do this someday. But I dont want to practice some kind of art form. But real combat training as if they would have done it in the past.

  • @TheMedievalMan It is an art, an exercise and combat fighting. It is an art because of it's control, balance and fluid movements. It is an exercise because the weapon act as an intrument in attaining proper posture, strengthening joints and muscles improve flexibility, concentration and coordination of hand and eye movements. It is combat because all it's movements and techniques are combat related and that is why it is called Martial Art!

  • @TheMedievalMan the Kwan Dao blade he is using is fucken fake! It rattles, and is flexible, real Kwan Dao blade is made of forged steal.

  • @PakDaeHan Those are performance blade, it can easily be replace with real sharpen combat kwan dao and it comes in different weight and size to suite the soldier strength and abilities. Example; a 6'6 soldier will have an 8 ft kwan dao, a 5'5 soldier will have a 6 or 7 ft kwan dao.

  • your talking about those battle ready one's huh? but obviously you're not gonna go carrying those out in the mall or something, those things are pretty frightening lol.

Just imagine carrying that 20-40 pound monster with a perfectly keen edge XI

oh yeah just to mention, a chinese broadsword would also be pretty deadly too

  • i swear the chinese are the coolest people to ever use a bladed weapon

  • These were good! The only thing I didn't like were the flppy tal kawn dao they used. I wish the would use real ones (not sharp though).

  • NIce traditional kwan dao. You can see the practical apllications especially the 1st form of wu jew chuan.

  • For the infantry it is carry by hand. For the cavalry same thing. Usually for the officers they will have an aid or squire that carry their long weapons for them. Having a strap would probably been use as an option too.

  • Thank you for responding.

I mean, how would a warrior have taken this weapon, from place to place, in ancient times?

Did a strap go over the shoulder? Did he carry it in his hands?

  • Do you mean like bringing your weapon from one venue to the other?
