what did you use as a hub to mount the blades?
atpuck 1 year ago
@atpuck MDF board. i had some MDF left over and just cut a circle out of it with my jigsaw. The symmetry of the hub is a huge deal because having bad symmetry causes a large deal of unwanted oscillations otherwise. I had to re-cut hubs until I got a well balanced hub.

Cool Design! It will be interesting to see how that gearbox on that generator holds up to the constant torque. It was recycled anyway so it's not expensive.
You're video was from feb.09. How many service hours are on it now? Looks like a great battery charger system at the least!
Great Video! Thanks for sharring!

Sorry for replying so late. Shortly after making this video I was making a presentation with it. When transporting the turbine back home, the plastic collar in the swivel base cracked. I never got around to fixing it but when it was working, I had it hooked up to a large radio to play some music while I worked outside. I never hooked it up to a battery bank sadly

What motor you using? Treadmill motor?

The motor is from a hand crank radio. It has a gear box attached to the motor shaft pinion. It is a super awesome generator for something that was just sitting in the attic.
