This instructional book is titled "A Concise Course of Chinese Calligraphy", wih 10 chapters.
Chinese calligraphy has a history of 5000 years. Over time, it is not only used as a method of communication, but has become an artform.
On page 8/9, we see samples of calligraphy in Qin dynasty, where Emperor Qin Shi Huang ordained a standard script, "Chuan Shu". In the later Han dynasty, the "Li Shu" (clerical form) of calligraphy became important, where the horizontal strokes are more prominent.
What is underneath the book, and underneath the paper, etc?? Is it a felt pad?? I also wish I understood Chinese as I am sure Mr. Jiang is telling us wonderful things. Greg
I understand only a couple of phrases like 中国书法 (Chinese calligraphy) and I think I also heard 艺术 (art). Maybe someone else or you can help to translate. :P
