  • * beautiful* very moving and so modest a lovely post, thank you :-)

  • I have been searching and comparing versions of this song...The first note of that Cello had my eyes welling up. a perfect instrument to accompany this song.

  • Tommy, Im Daniel, A wicklow man away from home, Married to a beautiful woman with black hair. My Heart is missing home. This song always touches my heart. As many in your posts have said, Out of all the versions i have heard of this song, I have never heard anybody sing it from the heart as you do. You knock christy right off. there. If our paths ever cross tommy, I love to buy you a pint. Truly beautiful song,

  • beautiful

please watch Sten Fisher's version - it has a different touch. for me - his version is very sad and very beautiful

he sings it in his own way

(to find him just search for "Sten Fisher black is the color")

  • I absolutely loved this. I've found three version I prefer to Christie Moore, there's a young lad on youtube doing a piano solo that's great and also the Cannongate Cadgers, but this is by far the best guitar and voice I've ever heard.

    Thanks.

  • tastommy
