excellent point dude. Simply an interesting argument I think. Especially when you start breaking down competition levels. As in Sec, acc, etc etc etc. and then to another extent - d1aa, d2, d3, naia and even high school. Definitely a worthy argument on either side. Im glad this turned into a good discussion!

I agree to an extent. Great talent CAN make coaching easier, but doens't always. Every year in college football you see teams who have great recruiting classes disappoint. They obviously have the talent, but they get outschemed and outcoached, many times by inferior opponets. Miami of the mid-2000s is a great example of this. Take a look at the NFL talent and recruitng classes they had and then look at how their seasons ended up. Then look at what Urban Meyer did at Utah, Chris Peterson at Boise

You didn't say "any college team." You said, "them up against the worst coached d3 college team." D3 football is not high quality football. You have high school districts in FL and TX that have higher quality teams than many D3 programs.

I highly disagree that a HS team could beat any level of college team simply because of the age difference and mindset. It is a job at the college level. See what I am getting at?

you were definitely in the right as my original comment was very vague.

I can see how my comment could have been taken in that way. By no means did I mean that coaching is not important [as it obviously is], a better way for me to say what I was really trying to say would be: 'X's and O's are important, but when you have the 'Joes' to go along with it, it makes things a whole lot easier. agree or disagree, this is simply an opinion. This actually turned into a pretty good conversation! glad we could clear everything up.

That's funny. D3 football is a joke and is where, for the most part, guys who just like playing football go. Obviously teams like Mount Union draw the best D3 talent but if you're matching up "the worst coached D3" team, I can assure you a Saban/Malzahn high school team with average talent would win. Honestly, I don't think that's even debateable.

Not trying to sound condescinding, but what you just said is the most obvious statement I've ever heard. Of course you need good gameplanning and coaching combined with good players to win championships. Your first comment was implying that coaching and gameplanning dont mean anything unless you have players when it actuality it's the exact opposite. Great coaching can win tons of games even with subpar talent. Talent alone rarely wins games. Coaching is by far the most important thing to a team
