Most reptiles (and especially amphibians) are hyper sensitive to contaminants in their regular habitats, let alone the chlorine content of a backyard swimming pool. Further, box turtles don't only take in water orally, but will absorb it via the tail end as well. After a dunk in the pool, there will be chlorine in these turtle's systems, no matter how much you "wash them off."
I'm not accusing you of purposefully torturing these animals, but it is inadvertent neglect.

Tip : Turtles are slow on land but are fast swimmers suprisingly . I wonder if they can hold thier own on the sea right ?
