Bluegrass Music truly began when Earl Scruggs' innovative banjo sound joined forces with Bill Monroe and Lester Flatt. That collaboration forever changed and influenced a new musical genre. Earl Scruggs went on to join Flatt as they split from Monroe after just a couple of years and continued to impact the genre until Scruggs challenged conventional thinking and combined rock, folk and the banjo with the "Earl Scruggs Revue." This documentary short examines the birthplace of Earl Scruggs and the influence he continues to have in the foothills of North Carolina. Complete with interviews from Earl and Horace Scruggs, this special was originally aired on Shelby Headline News (TV 33) in 1996. Noel T. Manning (cameras, writing, editing, producing, directing).
