@renji9876 The actual idea of Brotherhood was for it to follow the manga more closely as the 2003 version had become something on it's own.

@SamyueruHikage Think of it more like this, Full Metal Alchemist the first series and Brotherhood both start the same but the original series gets up to a point and then turns into a whole brand new story. (Not really filler as it's completley different from the Manga plot). The reason they did that was because they were making the Anime before the Manga had finished - instead of making lots of filler like Naruto or Bleach they just decided to create a whole new story.

@renji9876 From what I understand, the first FMA followed the manga up until the early teens episodes, then was filler (though, very good filler).

Brotherhood, sticks to the manga 100%. Though, I could be wrong.

FMA:B is designed to better follow the manga, since it was completed prior the making of this anime. The events of the early episodes of FMA are still more-or-less canon, but were shortened or in some cases left out entirely (such as the events at the mines, which are mentioned but not show) to avoid repetition and more quickly move to the manga events which were not previously shown.

Both are great series, and deserving of a watch.

@renji9876 As is often the case with anime, Fullmetal Alchemist proceeded faster than the manga it was based upon, thus necessitating the creation of original storyline material to keep the anime going. The end result was that the series diverged sharply by the halfway point, and ended up completely different from the manga.

This is an issue that occurs commonly. The multi-episode fights in DBZ were a result of waiting for the manga to "catch up" to the anime.

@renji9876 FMA Brotherhoods Is exact on the manga as opposed to the original which after like ep 30 - 40 or so (not sure) just drifted off to its own thing... not to mention there is a hell of a lot more detail in the art.

@renji9876 Brotherhood follows the manga more closely and finishes the way the manga did as for the 2003 anime it finished on it's own since the manga wasn't finished then. I've also heard brotherhood had a bigger budget to run on.

Guess EggThemOn noticed how many anime songs on YouTube are being banned constantly under copyright laws. If I was sugar-hyped as usual, I'd say something like "AWWW SNAP, THAT MOF***ER WHEN CONSTITUTIONAL ON THEIR ASS!!" I made no sense by intent. Great vid. (::) [/cookie]
