60 years NATO - 60 years 'Culture of War'
Rebelact - 13.03.2009 11:00
The Atlantic Commission, the propaganda club of NATO, organised Thursday, March 12th in De Balie in Amsterdam a presentation named 'Culture of War'.
Off course it happened more or less sneaky. The meeting wasn't announced on the website of the 'progressive' debate centre De Balie.
Politicians, journalists, specialists and diplomats were invited. Other people could only get access by leaving their personal data at the Atlantic Commission. An effective way to exclude fundamental discussion.
The title 'Culture of War' had to do with the presentation of the invited 'hawk' Martin van Creveld, professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. From him is the quote: "The real reason war exists is that men love war and women warriors" (...)
However: 'Culture of War' was a good occassion to perform a little performance because of the coming sixtiest birthday of NATO. With support of Samba 'Rhythms of Resistance'. Rebelact showed a few characteristic poses of victims of the 'Culture of War' in the large entrance hall near the rooms of De Balie. With applause from coincidental visitors.
And a lot of troubles with an overzealous regulator from De Balie. Who immediately called the police. The performance played the last 20 minute before the invitees entered their meeting. Around 20.00 our 'Culture of War' moved slowly outside to the main entrance where the performance concluded with some 'lying death' on the street.
In the mean time the police arrived. First a car, then a van, some motorcycles, about 6 or 7 cops. It wasn't easy for them to connect with 'the death', but after some lugging they managed and came questions about I.D. The police also liked to see a demonstration in the performed play. Or a blockade of the debate centre.
The regulator from De Balie was finally in trouble: a lot of police and connected administration in De Balie. Shortly before the ritual ended (all policemen left around 20.30) he excused himself: "He 'had' to call the cops because he didn't get answers during our 'Culture of War' performance.
Finally everything turned out fine: the NATO ties companionship were able to enjoy the unannounced 'Culture of War' and the undercover clowns of Rebelact weren't arrested. And the police continued with cattching criminals (or something like that).
