Amazing....I remember so well listening to the great Dennis Elsas on WNEW-FM in New York City when "Darkness on the Edge of Town" came out in June of 1978 and he played "Badlands", after first playing a clip from "Giant" with James Dean and then a snippet of the apocalyptic Elvis song "King of the Whole Wide World", which the song is in some measure based on. Really astonishing what a great writer Springsteen is.

Indeed this is July 8, 1978 in Phoenix. Three days after my first Bruce show. (the date in the heading is????) This will be included on the "The Promise: The Darkness On the Edge of Town Story" out Nov.16, 2910. containing 3 CD's and 3 DVD's from the Era. Including an entire '78 concert in Houston and 21 songs recorded for "Darkness" that didn't make the album. It's going to ROCK!!!!!!

I saw Bruce in Madison, WI in June 1978. 06/08/78 sticks out in my mind; what location as this filmed from? Thanks

This looks like the same show that the "Rosalita" video was shot. Which was July 8th 1978 Phoenix Arizona, Veterans Memorial Coliseum. I was sitting in the 4th row.

i have to wonder how many lives have literally been saved by this song and springsteen's message of hope against all odds. "it ain't no sin to be glad you're alive..."

Time travel? This is it. Recorded a whole 26 days before I saw my first Bruce show on July 5th at the Forum in Ingelwood, CA. My life has never looked the same since.
Such an excellent video for so little views. Hopefully it will be discovered. A gem for sure.
