the tube

This is a multi-toned drum made out of PVC, not dissimilar to those used by the Blue Man Group. I've always wanted to make one, so here it is! It has a small range of notes in the key of C. Only 7 tubes, so not even a full octave... but its decent enough to get a couple rythems off.

try some soft mallets and what are those colored caps on the end of the pipes?

the colored ends are tape, holding a plasitc mouth to the end of the tube. Softer, air-tight mallets would work if the pipes were open (as the blueman use) but it is VERY tricky to strike the drum to get a good sound... So I did it my way. :)

would it work just as well if you didnt have the metal frame holding them together? Like if you taped them together or something. Would that cut down on the resonance? Cause I dont know how to make the metal frame
