  • I read a book a long time ago where Satan was God. I wish I could remember the name of it or who wrote it. The guy was begging for a used car sales man. Everything was perfect. He didn't have to eat, sleep unless he chose to, everything he wanted was right there and it drove him craze. He told God heaven was hell and Godkicked him out. He fell forever down to hell yelling God is a fink, God is a fink etc.etc.. I never read such a funny book in my entire life. I laughed till I hurt.

  • Pascal was a frightened bitch who was too thick to realise the blatant error in his "philosophy".

If I were a judeo/christian/muslim "god" I'd be more annoyed at a human who spent their life worshipping a "false god" (based on "His" commandments this is a pretty big deal to "Him") than someone who spent their life thinking for themselves.

  • Pascal's Wager is just another way of saying that we take consequences into consideration in all of our decision making. If you consider walking across a babbling brook on a downed tree trunk, you may do that if the drop into the shallow creek is three feet down. But if it is a 1,000 foot plunge into a gorge, you decide against it, even though it is the exact same tree, exact same distance, same difficulty, etc. It is just one factor in our decision making.

  • OMG! Satan really does sound like the good guy from what you say! I think, If I were to ever become religious for whatever reason, I'd worship him. :D

  • I like the satan analogy!

  • Agree with everything you said. Also, to expound I'll paraphrase R. Dawkins when he states that if that question even resonates with you at all, you better hope your god is not an all knowing god or he'll know that somewhere deep down you were just hedging your bets. Also, having a mother who suffered a stroke in the mid-brain, I can assure you that the personality, consciousness or "soul" is gone once that part of the brain is damage. It's not like the soul is intact and the words aren't there
