  • Finally, can't the video poster realize that the part to replace is the "SAME" part. Why do you have to look through the directions to see the exact "SAME" part in the bag?! Don't get it. I don't care if it's labeled part XYZHTBATQL. Just look at the plate on your shoe and take the same one out of the replacement bag! Also, you bought them...it says ZERO replacement cleats on the LABEL! Don't get...why you seem puzzled.

  • @sawink yes... I hear what you are saying but... i do not like to replace a part labeled "1" with a part labeled "3"... just makes me feel puzzled which would explain the why...

  • I have both...speedplays are slightly better than SPD-SL (Look or Shimano) road pedals. Advantages are better knee alignment due to float, lighter than SPD-SLs and (my fav) dual sided for easier clip ins. Some say the SPD-SL (3 hole pedal) is more stable but..it's not due to the closeness of the speedplay pedals to your foot. Speedplays have the majority of your pedal attached to your shoe rather than vice versa. Your a walking flat pedal...pretty much. Whereas the SPD-SL is more really only o

  • @sawink Better knee alignment = better kinematics = less injury yay! I really appreciate the dual sided entry as well. Should we open up the float to maximum??

  • @SoCalCycling do you have to buy special shoes or does it cum wiv a atachment?

  • @will009ish you have to buy "road" shoes with the 4 bolt cleat mount. Speedplay pedals come with your first set of cleats. Most "road" shoes are compatible with both the 3 bolt "look" style and the 4 bolt spd/speedplay style cleats.

  • Just giving you a hard time. :). Just changed my other set to speedplay pedals plus cleats. What a bitch. My pedals were on so tIght, it took an hour and 2 bend Allen wrenches be me. Almost broke my hand. Pro shop originally installed them on my second bike as a favor...some favor! Float it up and see how it feels. I enjoy trying to walk with these attached to my road shoes. They need to make something do I can walk at least 10 feet. Like MTB shoes have a cover for the 2 holes.

  • There are only a few shoes out there, that have 4 holes standard for "lollipop" (I call them that as well) Speedplay pedals. X5 and zeros (think X1s and others are different) have sane alignment but other speedplays don't. All you do is use the SPD-SL 3 hole adapter that comes with the pedals. Almost all road shoes have the 3 hole design. So...pretty much EVERY Road Shoe is compatible with speedplays. Just a plate for conversion to 4 holes (Video)

  • Just got my first road bike (trek 2.3) and got speedplay "lollipop" style pedals, I must say these are the most confusing things...I have no idea what cleats/shoes to buy!!!

  • even better than drilling it out is to take a drimel tool and a thin cut off wheel. cut a slot into the center of the head and turn it into a new flat head screw drive screw. if that doesnt work then you could still drill it out.
