Sissel, the international singing sensation from Norway, is widely regarded as one of the finest and most talented sopranos in the world. Her crystalclear voice has made Sissel a national institution in Norway. Sissel has sung all over the world, selling over six million solo albums. She contributed the haunting vocal tracks for the soundtrack to Titanic. She has been doing great duets with singers like Placido Domingo, Charles Aznavour, Bryn Terfel, Jose Carreras, Russell Watson, Neil Sedaka and Josh Groban. A very remarkable voice you will only hear once in your lifetime.

This is the famous "Lilja Lied / Vilja Song from "The Merry Widow" by Franz Lehar (Die Lustige Witwe by Franz Lehar) This was Sissel`s classical debut and the male singer is called Kjell Magnus Sandve.

VILJA LIED

Vilja, O Vilja
Min drøm og mitt savn
Smil meg i møte og ta meg i favn
Vilja, O Vilja
min fryd og min gled'
skogdypet stråler med deg

Skognymfen rakte ham hånden og lo
og førte ham inn i sitt lønnlige bo
der glemte bare å hvile sitt bryst
i elskovens jubel, i elskovens lyst

  • @usbpscm727 Actually, I can't, for the life of me, think why on earth I made that comment 6 months back!!! ?

    ...Has got me beat! ;)

  • @Docdogs1 She sings many different styles from show tunes, to even country.

  • hm miau wer will camen

  • Som deg vokste jeg opp i Bergen området, og har fulgt med i din karriere. Godt å se en Bergensjente klare seg så godt. Vilja var min more favoritte sang!

     Hilsen fra Elin

  • Why on earth has she gone 'classical' singing??!

It is terrific to hear her singing some classics, but why so terribly limit one's future as to 'turn classical'?? :(

  • Vocalallusive, sorry about misunderstood question. I don't think that Hall is of Norwegian origin, I know that it is. They came to America from Ireland. And to Ireland from Scotland. And to Scotland from Norway. No doubt about it. Researched extensively, not up for debate. Thanks for input and opinion.

  • @roofbolterx5, "Hallr" means stone (a slab of it) in old norwegian and are no longer used. Modern use of "hall" in Norwegian is a transit room in a building which leads everywhere else and is spelled as in english. I don't think there is a clear relationship between "hall" and "helle" (a slab of stone in modern norwegian) in norwegian. It is also used of an indoor sport arena. I'm afraid the name "Hall" do not have it's orgin in Norway so you need other leeds to tell where your name comes from.

  • @sisselfan I am doing search of family ancestry and found out that my name is Norwegian. Hall is spelled Hallr in Norway according to what I read. Is this spelling of Hall with the r correct. I wondered why I was so captivated by Sissels voice.
