An original take on the aria "O mio babbino caro" from Puccini's operetta "Gianni Schicchi". Ingrid Bjørnov is a professional musician and entertainer, and this act is from the grand opening of the new Opera House in Oslo, Norway, on April 12, 2008.

  • ehm.. that was *O mio babbino caro" not "Vilja-lied"..!? Funny as hell though!

  • You are so right! Don't know why I hadn't figured it out myself. Must have been unconscious - again! Thank you, I shall correct it!

  • It is because of the new opera lies at sea level, and if the sea is rising, then the opera is going to be under water, so they would sing like this :P

  • @havfruen72 I actually don't agree with my original comment. It's a very funny and very relevant performance. I was stupid.

  • @linguistmuz The Norwegian, Swedish and Danish royal families, as well as the Norwegian prime minister and the German chancellor, etc. are shown in this video to laugh and enjoy the show. And even though you might not know who she is, Ingrid Bjørnov does not need to show off in any way as her talents and skills stand on their own.

So, I think we should all just enjoy it as the funny performance it was meant to be.

As Sjurmen said: the new opera lies at sea level. Therefore it was a point in there regarding all the global warming discussions at that time.

  • Ok this is kind of fun, in it's own way. But why did they schedule this at the opening of the new opera house in Oslo? It's completely ridiculous. It's ok to have fun with opera, since opera IS fun, but this is just stupid. It shouldn't turn into your ordinary look-what-I-can-do pageant.
