Then Horace Silver player picked up the same tune as a funky jazz tune he called
"The Preacher." (
I like to play "The Preacher" and then sneak in a chorus with the bear!!

My daddy used to sing this song me. I got to thinking of it the other night and just got him to sing it to me again:) he's the best. The words are a different then I've always heard it.. the chorus was pretty much the same tho.. and it ends different in my version.. it ends with the preach baptizing the bear.

Momma used to sing this song to me a long time ago - 70 years or so. Her words were a bit different though. Same tune - Momma wasn't quite as energetic as Jerry.
Jerry Reed was fantastic he is so missed. As for God well I believe there is a god & he creates all things good bad & totally useless, Pokeyoakey shame you were in the last category on that list

old classic country is not apprecaited by people my age 18-25 crowd. i am trying to preach to my friends but they don't understand. I F ing love it :)
