  • this was originally a big hit for Phil Harris (after "That's what I like about the south")

Then Horace Silver player picked up the same tune as a funky jazz tune he called

    "The Preacher." (

I like to play "The Preacher" and then sneak in a chorus with the bear!!

  • @chickenrich86 ha my little cousin is about to turn 19 and he love jerry reed johnny cash all the other greats

  • Jerry, we really miss you brother.

  • Modern country turned me off from the genre for so long, but this stuff is GOLD

  • this was the b-side of 'amos moses' on 45rpm...way back then :)

  • My daddy used to sing this song me. I got to thinking of it the other night and just got him to sing it to me again:) he's the best. The words are a different then I've always heard it.. the chorus was pretty much the same tho.. and it ends different in my version.. it ends with the preach baptizing the bear.

  • Hey Howdy and Blessed be..Having me a Jerry's "Weed" Reed Hour...

Take care....Watch out for that BEAR...LOL!

  • @pokeyoakey

Well, that's like your opinion, man.

  • Momma used to sing this song to me a long time ago - 70 years or so. Her words were a bit different though. Same tune - Momma wasn't quite as energetic as Jerry.
