Actually, the government conducts house to house random samples and asks, are you employed? are you looking for a job? etc. If a person is not employed and IS LOOKING for a job, then he is considered unemployed. If he is not actively looking for a job, then he is not counted. So if he is part time or flipping hamburgers because he can't get his regular job he is considered employed. So the government is manipulating the data, as you suggest, but just doing it differently.

The real unemployment rate in Oregon especially in the call center jobs as well as the construction jobs is 45-65% at least if not more according to the internet. With people that are disabled it is 350-450% at least. There are No jobs here. They are trying to eliminate alot of the population by taking away peoples jobs. There are many social economic factors that will occur if people do not work. People cannot eat nor buy anything causing other businesses to fail. The figures are lies.!!!

There were gains. Just not in manufacturing, agriculture, construction and other actual productive areas. These areas saw unemployment losses.

Seasonal jobs are part of this, but they are temporary. Maybe some of those jobs in those nonexistent districts are being counted.

U6 is 17.2% from 17.5% last month. I have been going through the same math all morning.

I am researching this too, something sounds wrong. Stock mkt is soaring. It's like 1984, 2+2=3.
