  • She knew exactly how to place every note, ever nuance, to take the maximum out of every piece of music and make it so powerful that one simply cannot help it be be overwhelmed by emotion upon hearing any of her recordings. Truely one of the greats.

  • Yes, she turned everything into gold. Maybe the most impressive is her discipline of phrasing. In the beginning she had such a dark and broad voice that she could sing tenor in mixed choir.

  • Il y a un liant superbe et subtile dans cette interprétation

    SUPER

  • quelle profondeur, que d’émotion dans la voix ,

  • Sounds so clean and polite, just amazing!

  • COULD it be that the master tapes of this production were speeded up a little bit in order to enhance sound compression and coloratura accurancy (= transparence in higher speed)? I just wonder because of the unusual key of C sharp / D flat respectively and the mezzo-soprano-like tessitura in this recording. If not: Her command and soundful clearness would be really amazing. Well, even if not speeded up - she truly was an amazing, highly talented singer.

  • Wonderful singing! Thank you FarfalloneAmoroso for posting this fine video!

  • I picked up an old 78 from my parents collection; "What is Life". I couldn't stop playing it. What a delight to discover the rest of her work. For me she is incomparable.

  • Nice and spirited!

  • Quelle magnifique artiste! C'est une voix de velour. Merci, FarfallanoeAmoroso! Mille grazie!
