Dog Fishing in early June on a Southern Mid Michigan Lake with The NomadicDog & The StupidTruth With a rare bonus catch & release.
These fish are one tough hombre, mean and nasty. They are true survivors designed to be the ultimate predator fish and have stood the test of time.
We like to catch them but at the same time hate to find them in our lakes, for the simple fact they can take over a smaller body of water real quick and shut down the bite of other game fish as they head for cover.
Our biggest on to date was taken last year at 39" as it totally destroyed a White Roland Martin Big Bass spinner bait. When we say we hate this fish, that is what we mean, they are just so resilient, tough as nails, hard to handle and built to Survive!

  • @luvashy03 ...so, yeah, dogfish (or bowfin, whatever you prefer) are a big problem in the more northern states. they are an extremely invasive species and a huge pest (at least in Michigan). they might be fun to catch, but we Michigan anglers have pretty good reasons for despising these fish. i know a lot of anglers, and not a one of them prefers to release these nasties back into the water if they have the choice. it may not be right, but it's actually better for the ecology where we fish.

  • @luvashy03 they may not eat as much as a pike, but they will kill larger fish that a pike of the same size would only attack for defensive purposes. plus, bowfin spawn several times throughout the year, causing their population within a body of water to grow very rapidly. this forces other large gamefish to have to relocate other areas of the lake that might be less habitable. might not be a big deal in the south, but bass don't get as big here in MI, making them an easier target....

  • @spitfirecs420 I think it's Lilly Lake in Harrison, Clare county!! That looks like the boat launch where my kids and I would doc fish. Hope the uploader will let us know!!

  • Hmmm, I'm wondering if this is Lilly Lake in Harrison? Just let me know if I'm right or wrong please.

  • that dogfish doesn't eat or kill nearly as much or as often as a pike and i don't hear you talking shit about them. your a fuckin peace of redneck shit for treating those fish like that and spreading that trash about them . if i see you doing that to a bowfin on the water i will crack your jaw.

  • where were you in michigan because i know this great spot its like cheating the water is clear so you can see when they bite and i swear i could land one ever 3 minutes or less but after like th 6th ot 7th they get smarter by the way im talking large mouth bass o ya and catfish after about 8 or 9

  • Wish I could catch fish like that from the shore I live in Dearborn and fish on Newburgh lake what other good lakes there around us?

  • i dont see them in cranberry lake
