Part 3 discusses and shows the following...

* Continuation of building the "Fallout Filter"
* Testing the easy to use "Fallout Filter"

  • wouldn't a layer of charcoal from a burnt camp fire be good also? It would help purify the water.

  • As I said this is a last resort type of filtration (using soil).

    Of course if you had charcoal it would also help. The problem is that if fallout covered everything, then the coal and ash could still be contaminated and defeat the process. However if you prepared in advance and had clean charcoal, then it would be beneficial.

    Thanks for posting this idea.

    :)

  • How many times can you use this filtration process? can you reuse the rocks?

  • short answer = once

    Since your filtering out radioactive fallout, it would be best to bag the contaminated dirt/soil/rocks for proper disposal later on, then get new dirt/soil/rocks for additional filtering.

    :)

  • I just want to know what keeps microscopic worm eggs out of the water. They're in dirt. Some are so small, they can bore through the skin of your feet without ppl knowing it. Watch videos on worms... I guess we have to boil the water.

  • If you watch all three parts you will see that I do recommend that you treat the dirt filtered water for just that reason.

    :)

  • I am a 60 yr old widow with a disabled daughter and I'm just now starting to educate myself on these prepp videos. I will now have the know how to do it..I also live in the deep south where it's hot and humid but my basement that has 2 bedrooms are always cool. the floors are concrete will that be a bad thing to store them right on the floor or should I buy shelves to put them on?

  • I would definitely want you as a friend if I was ever in danger and in need of a survivalist. Thanks for the informative video :D

  • This is a great way to remove radiation from water, but don't forget to have adequate protection from radiation in the environment otherwise. If you're in a SHTF scenario where the area itself is radioactive and you have no defense against its effects, having safe water is going to be cold comfort as you slowly die. Accordingly, iodine would be very handy to have on hand assuming the local radioactivity is relatively low. Oh, and you'll die drinking only distilled water for lack of vitamins.

  • excellent....when u mentioned hidden water sources in the house, I thot, mmm,,,,no you aren't going there, the comode....lol....but one thing I never thot of was the hot water tank...very good....thank you, and the amount of simple bleach to purify....and I too always wondered how long water could be stored!

  • @DIYSurvivalSolutions I would add that argyria, or blue-grey skin, is produced through the accumulation of large silver particles in the blood, which it cannot eliminate; this can be as little as one teaspoonful daily over eighteen months or more. Argyria is not an illness, but a 'condition.' Further, it is the prolonged use of a, b, c and d as previously indicated which causes the condition.

    You can drink large quantities of clear colloidal silver without affecting the colour of the blood.

  • @highwayhokie NO!

  • @DIYSurvivalSolutions No, you will NEVER get blue skin from drinking colloidal silver correctly made with distilled water, where the product is clear or a pale lemon colour.

    Argyria is caused by drinking colloidal silver that is:

    a.) made with non-distilled water;

    b.) excessive concentration, where the colour is dark red, brown, grey or black, (due to silver density);

    c.) made with dilute nitric acid;

    d.) made with silver filings.

    Cancer from bleach is due to a person’s susceptibility.

  • @dawes777 So you can turn your skin blue with the colloidal silver? Awesome. You are not going to get cancer from drinking a minuscule amount of diluted bleach for the duration of a temporary disaster/emergency.

  • @D33Lux Yes it would. Also letting water flow through the filter to "clean" off the rocks and other stuff would be ideal, before you begin capturing your drinking water.

  • keep a bag of clean sand for this reason , also keeping bentonite clay around to clean fallout from water by adding it to the water then pouring it thru the sand filter , im making a system with bone char to remove fluoride a large gravity filter is a good thing to have anyway
