Deanne Kelly OTR/L introducing touch and textures to toddlers in a group therapy feeding session. Here she is introducing crunchy food (veggie sticks) with soft, slippery food (cooked pasta) thru play and encouraging imitation. Each child had a successful experience in their own way: one child leaves the security of his mother's lap; another child picks up and plays with the pasta; a third child eats the pasta. All of these represent the steps necessary for a child to eventually try and enjoy a new food. Have fun doing this or something similar at your next snack time!
