Maybe the brain is still functioning but the tools used to monitor just aren't fine/accurate enough.

This is not the bbc.

odd that the last segment part 4/6 presented an event ...totally monitored that provided conclusive proof for the timing aspect/question ...stopped... then was summed up as "must argue"
then in this part 5/6 the presentation begins with "scientists agree..." ...fascinating that even the scientific perspective of information sharing potential has been reduced to 'consumer mentality strategies and cliches'
thank-you for sharing this documentary

you could from a logical point of view say this is the beginning of afterlife. not just a temporary sensation, these supposed waves at the quantum foam level that creates consciousness could exist in every piece of matter. You could imply that the universe as a whole is alive. the mind is just a receiver of these waves. Im thinking metaphysical though but our whole existence would make sense. We are blind to the universe. death then is just returning back to being able to see. We are all one

how does the quantum mechanics theory of replicating brain cells explain the visual and auditory perceptions (new perceptions that takes place during the operation, not just previous memories)? how does it explain hearing a conversation or seeing a new instrument? brain cells alone can't see or hear. they need the assistance of sensory organs to get the inputs.

Seems to me that quantum mechanics property of superimposition implies that given the molecules can exist in two places at the same time, then it must exist in the brain prior to its final cessation thus allowing you to observe outside of your body. Big thing will be what happens for example if a person's brain totally shuts down, does the doppelganger copy of the consciousness also cease to exist..wonder if we will ever know...

@GhostAholics That happened field was very well known centuries ago with many ancient civilizations who used the spiritual fields to guide them...some kind of ecstasy whatsoever, this makes look the actual science like poor and very ignorant because of the atheist ego or the fear of the unknown.
-
Quantum superimposition then is saying that consciousness is in and out of the body at the same instant, or the same, consciousness is local and non-local at the same time. (This further implies that consciousness is the very stuff or matter of the universe.)

@YourGodDammBoy I suppose the word 'observer' is in the deifinition of collapse of wave function being (the reduction of the physical possibilities into a single possibility as seen by an 'observer'), of course it has nothing to do with the electron rather just a point of measurement, and has nothing to do with electrons observing anything, but hey the word observe appears there so why not run with it...look up what observer means in physics first then say something stupid like that.
-
@GodIsOne777 of course electrons observe. thats what creates the fabric of the universe. its called the collapse of the wave function.
Interesting research. If he can prove that the consciousness can leave the body, even temporary, then he will open up a whole new field of science and study.

@felsner1
the problem is quantum physics are not understandable for humans yet. for us it looks like magic now just like a computer would have looked 200 years ago
