Though this was something of a propaganda film for the gas company, I think they did have some benevolent intentions in social planning and it seemed to have worked. -tarotworldtour

Really interesting. The Bullring (St. Andrew's Garden's) is the only one of them left isn't it? I talked to a fella who grew up there, he said the drying room was bizarre, the way the metal racks slid out of the wall.

Was Lancelot Keay being filmed in Blackburn Chambers does anyone know?
The footage is featured in my film Gardens of Stone, but was originaly included in a film made by the Gas Board. It was used to promote the benefits of gas in new homes (hence the scripted comments by Mrs Greaves), and highlighted Liverpool City Council's major investment in communal housing in the 1930's.
