A WWII skirmish during the Battle of the Bulge- this short independent film is shot entirely from the first person point of view.
This isn't a game spoof, it's not a parody. It's you in the battle. Watch in full screen and high quality- with surround sound, if you can!
Summary (Spoilers):
We open up in the snowy forest of the Ardennes. It's 1944, the Battle of the Bulge. You're the third in a patrol of 3 soldiers. Armed with an M1 Garand, you follow along with your two companions on constant look out for the Germans. Suddenly, a Nazi stick grenade flies in and blasts you to the ground before you can run. Ears ringing from shell shock, your friend drags you back to cover as your other friend fires his M1 Carbine at the flanking Germans across a stream. MG fire opens up as your thrown over a log, from where you can clearly see both side engaging in combat. A shout from your buddy alerts you that the Germans are pushing across the stream, and a quick glance confirms the claim. You unholster you side arm, a Colt .45. Your Garand is no where to be seen. Quick shooting knocks down the soldier trying to cross. Another grenade quickly knocks you back into shellshock, and when you recover, the firing has ceased. You're confused for a moment, but then a German steps up to you, kneels down and checks your face for signs of life. You play dead, which seems to work. No one could have survived those two explosions. The Germans stand up and walk off. After feeling a safe time has elapsed, you stand up and make a limping run in the opposite direction. Your friend with the Carbine is dead, but your friend with the Thompson is wounded and in shock. You encourage him to get up, and the two of your limp away. Your flight is interrupted by shouting of Germans to stay still. All you can think to do is run. You and your friend rush to the creek, but you trip and fall. You see your friend get shot and killed, and the Nazis check him, ignoring you. You pass out of consciousness. Suddenly, instantly, you awake. Things are darker and cooler. You look around the snow tracts, and find your Garand laying by your side. Before you can grab it, a hand reaches down to help you up. It's your friend- now in his dress uniform and looking very clean. He says your weapon won't be needed anymore; the war is over. You're at peace now.
