PLEASE READ DISCLAIMER: If you follow every stage in this tutorial carefully and use the appropriate safety precautions/spotters whenever necessary, there is no reason why you should come to harm trying to learn this move. However, when learning somersaults, there is ALWAYS a risk of landing on your head/neck and I cannot be held responsible for ANY injuries you get whilst following this tutorial. Ideally, this should be used as a guideline alongside proper training from qualified instructors in a safe environment like a gym. That being said, stay safe, and HAVE FUN! :)

This is a detailed yet concise tutorial on the roundoff backhandspring; both as two seperate moves and as a combination. i could have gone into a lot more detail, and as such I may have missed bits out, feel free to ask me if there's still something you're unsure of and I will do everything i can to help! This will probably be the last tutorial on this channel; for the moment at least I want to concentrate more on my personal training.

  • nice! i can do these but lately i been thinking of trying Round off tuck or layout? I can do round off tucks at my local Gym. But what's easyer Layout or Tuck? Seems to me that layouts are easyer & safer. then a tuck go so high up maybe forget to tuck and fall :S Layout seems like fast flick of the legs to flip you, Kinda like BHS without hands more height

  • @KrazyKeaz A proper layout is considerably harder, the move you're describing is a whipback; essentially a 'no handed' flic. The layout should go up high like the tuck, but because your body and legs are straight you rotate a lot slower and more power is required to make it around to your feet.

  • @natcomber13 Thanks for reply. Yeah whipbacks! are those less fearful/easyer then going up and tucking? cause somtimes wen i do RD BHS i get height and my hands berly touch grass. I was thinking i could maby just whip it

  • @KrazyKeaz If whipback seems easier for you then there is no reason why you shouldn't try that first, just be aware that it may give you bad habits and make it harder to get a decent tuck and layout later on. Conventional gymnastics teaching would probably teach tuck back first, but as I said it is up to you :)

  • i cant bridge = poor bhs :(

  • @sheldonabc it sure helps, but look at my bridge!! I reach a much better shape in the bhs than i do statically, just think about arching and straightening your legs and it will come! :)
