TORNADO THREAT INFORMATION (KS/OK/TX Areas) 5-24-11

Today a TOR:CON value of 9 has been issued for southern Kansas, Oklahoma and northern portions of Texas. This is a significant threat and should be treated as such. The last time a value of 9 was issued was April 27th during the Mississippi/Alabama tornado outbreak that killed hundreds.

A TOR:CON value of 9 means there is a 90% chance of strong, long tracking tornadoes in the areas. Please take this seriously and heed all warnings as they can save your life.

Remember, the safest place to be during a tornado is underground. If you cannot get underground, take shelter in an innermost room on the lowest floor of your home.

YIP! When I heard Dr. Forbes's TorCon values I about FREAKED! We watched weather ALL day long....it was NOT optional. Today(Wednesday) they said to keep our guard up, and we had a tornado WARNING @ 10:45am or so. The temp was around 67 or so. I was Quite shocked, but acted accordingly. Anyway it's been quite the season so far. Yikes on all of this. Joplin just made me apetite negative. SO horrible. Obliteration. :(

Thanks for the heads up - I have a couple of friends in Oklahoma I need to touch base with now.. I've seen the damage F5's can do first hand - it just turns cities and towns into level dumps, unrecognizable.
