Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald visits the Mass Observation Archive to talk about the inspiration behind Life In A Day.

With thanks to the Mass Observation Archive for allowing us to shoot this clip at the archive and for their generous assistance www.massobs.org.uk

ife In A Day is a historic global experiment to create the world's largest user-generated feature film: a documentary, shot in a single day, by you. On July 24, you have 24 hours to capture a glimpse of your life on camera. The most compelling and distinctive footage will be edited into an experimental documentary film, executive produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Kevin Macdonald.

  • @VGMGarden Sorry, I had to pick you up on this comment, do you know what I would have been like in the editing room of this movie.. insane. Besides, he does make his "own" movies.

  • make your own movie you lazy bastard.

  • did not catch my interest

  • Type PRIZE before yotube and hit enter.

  • Wow...You may be interested in the book, "The Clock of the Long Now" by Stewart Brand (author of the "Whole Earth Catalog") because there is a chapter about archiving documents in the future; what documents does one include or exclude? In reference to the impossibility of archiving everything...

PS: The book inspired me to do a multimedia show in Detroit, Michigan, 2002

  • didnt kevin make royalty free music, i think our school used his music

  • whats the song called

  • Mazdaznans exit today being revived in Canada by Peter deBoer in 2007 see wikipedia

  • I think this is awesome. I often wonder if I would keep a diary now of everyday things, whether my grandchildren would find it interesting as "history"? It's sobering to think what we do today will be history for those generations coming after. What will our impact be?
