Mountain Goats (Oreamnos americanus) - Mt Evans, Colorado

These are the Mountain goats found only in North American Continent. They are normally found in the Alpine terrain at high altitudes.

This was shot at 14,000 ft altitude near the peak of Mt Evans. There are about 400 of them in these ranges. We came across about 30 of them in 3 different herds.

In this video, you can see them grazing on the soil! They eat them for the minerals. All the herds we found were grazing on the soil. This was during the later parts of the day. Near sunset.

They are accustomed to people, as long as you don't crouch for long they will allow you near them. We also found young ones in this herd. The mothers are wary of people near them.

They have very sharp horns, keeping a good distance is recommended.
