fishemal : i cant really tell if that her or not; but i know that the ending scared the daylights out of me when i was a kid. i dont understand why everyone says the chauffer was the creepy part; the creepiest part was at the end when he whips that chair around and there she is. go to "miss allerdyce"--of course without the " " and see all my comments about this movie
Ever since this DVD was in the front display of Bestbuy in 2004, it seems the movie is finally getting the credit it deserves. Youtube has helped it tremendously as well. Saw it at 11 in 1978 and it scared the Hell out of my brother and me. A good portion of it moves slow though - if you cut the movie to 1 hour 20 min then it would be equal to Halloween part one and the original When a stranger calls.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one scarred by this movie as a small child. I've had images of the chauffeur driver in my head since I first saw this when I was 10. Took me forever to find the title so I could watch it again and face my fears as a grown up. Very, very freaky movie.
For Burnt Offering fans only! Pause this clip at exactly the 55 second mark. I never noticed until now but is that a very quick shot of "Mrs. Allerdyce" in the funeral dream scene??
POST CONTINUED: I bet the Director Dan Curtis was going to show more of Karen Black as Mrs Allerdyce in the dream sequence but decided against it since it might have given away the ending....and yet, I imagine the last scene was filmed as if Oliver Reed's character was reacting to seeing the old lady from his dream....Of course I may be wrong, this is all a movie lovers speculation BUT I'm almost positive that is Karen Black at the 55 second mark
POSSIBLE SPOILERS: I find this film fascinating. After many years and several viewings I discovered something really interesting. If you stop this dream sequence at EXACTLY the 55 second mark you see a quick shot of what I think is Karen Black as Mrs. Allerdyce from the end of the film. This probably explains why Oliver Reed freaks out so much at the end.
omg....i'm 42,a grown man...and i feel 10 years old again....i just turned every freakin light on in the house! LOL...that chauffer scared the living shit outr of me as a kid
70's horror movies rule...thx for the memories....um...i think,lol. yikes!
