A respectful salute to Captain Chesley Sullenberger III and his crew and the Rescue Teams and all the responders for their unequalled skill and dedication, and to the passengers of flight 1549.
On January 15, 2009 the flight departed LaGuardia Airport KLGA in New York headed for Charlotte, NC KCLT with 155 souls on board. What may have been a double bird strike caused both engines to fail shortly after takeoff, and the aircraft was amazingly landed on the Hudson River near New York City. Rescue Boats, ferry boats, tour boats and other vessels on the river responded and all 150 passengers and 5 crew survived.
