The Graduate Part 5

Benjamin Braddock (Dustin Hoffman) is unsure of his future. He returns home to Los Angeles after graduating from college on the east coast hoping to get some answers. At his welcome home party he feels alienated from his parent's friends and escapes to his room. Right when he thinks he's alone, his dad's business partner's wife Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft) enters and asks for a ride home. Following the kind gesture, Mrs. Robinson offers herself to Ben but he declines and tries to get home quick but not before getting sound advice from Mr. Robinson who just gets home. After a night of drinking, Ben phones Mrs Robinson and agrees to meet her. They begin having an affair, but this like all the rest of Ben's life now feels voided and alienating. Until he finally meets the Robinson's daughter Elaine (Katherine Ross) whom Ben falls for and Mrs. Robinson warns him to stay away from.

This whole sequence from when Ben gets out of the pool. The back and forth.the edit when he jumps back onto the raft that cuts to him mounting Mrs Robinson... with his Dad saying "What are you doing?"...It is masterful. One of the best editing sequences I've ever seen.

Such an honest movie, and therefore kind of spooky, because it makes us look at our own parents and wonder.

@somotastic21 It's when Elaine is in Ben's room and she screams. When Norman Fells comes to the door to find out what is going on, there is a group of guys behind him. One of the says "Do you want me to call the cops?" That's Dreyfuss.

this movie is a life lesson, that people are very very....very weird, and screwy and all around awful. control freaks as you will and pathetic. that want to control your life about what you are suppose to do and religion work, what job you need to do, if you go to college or not, and what colledge you do to. Thats when you leave without a trace and say fuck em, people like that don't deserve people that are not like the rest of them. AMEN!!!!
