@ladyi7609 It charted here in 1990. I'm not sure why it's being played in 2001 but they were on TOTP at this time to play 'Boss of Me' which was a hit here. So maybe they played this song as well because it's more well known here.

Why is this performance from 2001? Did "Birdhouse in Your Soul" chart a LOT later in Britain than it did in the U.S.? It was a 1990 single/hit in the U.S. Anyway, love this version! The slightly hard rockin' guitars actually work in it and I'm really glad they were able to reinterpret it as such for TOTP. Though nothing beats the version of the song from when they appeared on "The Tonight Show" in '90 -- Doc Severinsen played lead trumpet!!
