For the inaugural Zayed Future Energy Prize, Abu Dhabis prestigious award for future energy solutions hosted by Masdar Initiative, mamemo productions created a spectacular Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner event for 2000 high profile guests led by HH Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi along with other political, science and business leaders.
Stirring the whole human emotion and senses were the key goals of the setup, from the room-in-a-room concept areas in the foyer and two halls of ADNEC to the distinct creative decor in each area. As guests entered through the brightly lit and tree lined reception area, they walked through a tunnel where scenes from nature enveloped their whole view, refreshing their minds and preparing them for the next step.
After the tunnel, a theatre-style room arrangement allowed guests to focus on the events on the technically complex stage setup of fixed, hand driven and flying projection screens, topped by a massive 15mx2.5m LED wall that floated up and down the stage. This flexible setup was a key part of the nights centerpiece, The Power of Energy, a powerful fusion of moving images and key messages, completely transporting the graceful dancers and child performers into a colorful emotional landscape centered on Sheikh Zayed and his vision of a sustainable world. A specially commissioned musical score set the mood for the individual scenes, be it a lone cellist in the middle of a montage of images of nature or a child singing midstage, reminding the audience of the future we leave them.
After the awards show, the guests were led to an elegant gala dinner area, where everything from the carpeting to the fabric draped walls were set in off white to set off the centerpieces on the tables and the central stage feature, where graceful aerialists and singers performed while the guests were had an elaborate dinner.
For this project, mamemo productions introduced several sustainable-event measures that ranged from reducing its reliance on disposable covers by investing in reusable options to using soy based inks on recycled paper for the event programs and menu cards
