Just saw her in concert last night and she told a little story in front of this song. Her grandfather was a vaudeville star; an acrobat and singer named Peg-leg Jones (because he really had a peg leg) and he taught his sons to write and sing songs. This was a song her dad wrote before she was born.

I've loved this song ever since I first heard it on Rob Wasserman's "Duets" album. Her father was obviously a gifted writer.
