Great Britan did not abolish slavery before the united states and your comment that it did before the time of the revolution is absurd, We were a British colony...and therefore it would have been abolished here too ....Duhhh

@OW41N Great britan and most of the colonies in south America kept slavery untill the 1890's, it was the American disavoltion of slavery that sparked the end of the practice in this hemisphere. Remember We were not a country when slavery was brought here by the Dutch in the 1600"s, it ended 80 years after the adoption of the constitution, it was not easy to change the way things were done for over 150 years. Remember that Slavery is still practiced in Africa today !
