Biking on Detroit's Dequindre Cut

This ride video is on the Dequindre Cut, from the Gratiot ramp south to the Jefferson Avenue bridge. The Dequindre Cut is scheduled to officially open in August 2008.

Absolutely. The Dequindre Cut is managed by the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. They offer 24/7 security. The trail has plenty of cameras and call boxes.

As far as I know, yes, they will. I imagine that goes for quality graffiti art but not uninspired tagging.

Benches will be added. Grant funding was awarded to pay for them along with other trail amenities.

@FunkieIntl: It's complete from the river walk to farmers market. There are talks of extending it all the way to 8 Mile and beyond and also adding light rail to the cut. That's why it looks as if one side is not finished, because that's where they want to add the light rail. These types of greenways is EXACTLY what the metro area needs!

@TitaniumByFire But that's not much different from a lot of other cities. What the other cities have done is been better at replacing old jobs and adapting to a changing economy.

This is just a testement that detroit has lost so much industry. All this used to be railway with stops at dozens of wharehouses and plants, which helped to drive a better economy.
