The sub-boss of Nemesis should be approached differently, really...when you're that far from the roof your diagonal shots will take longer to trigger again. I always leave one option right over the left volcano, and the ship to the far left of the screen. You hit more rocks that way - in fact I used to use Laser for that boss and I'd still hit almost everything. You can be bold here, especially on the first loop :)
