  • Perfect for me as an absolute beginner. The only suggestion I would offer (to avoid confusion) is to either explain and slowly demonstrate the extra tap step you are doing (I realize it is part of the dance) and/or avoid doing that step during the beginner lesson. Regardless, best beginner lesson I have seen thus far on youtube. Keep it up.

  • @guyfax Great suggestion and I will do just that. The weight changes are the most important but the tap gives the whole motion and feeling of the dance and style that needs to be clarified. I will post a video clip with this info and possibly other tips. You have a good eye to notice this... -gb

  • The audio is now out of sync with the video starting around minute 3. This wasn't happening before -- maybe something got shifted when you added the note about the taps? I love this video, I send it to a lot of people I meet who are interested in zydeco, so I hope this can be re-sync'ed up.

  • You're basic step is like a dance they do in the Domincan Republic called bachata ! cool stuff!

  • Wow! someone just told me about this today. It looks like a lot of fun!

  • Great!!!!

  • Thank you Greg, I found your instructions, very clear and easy to follow. I dance salsa on 1 so am not unfamiliar with quick quick slow timing, although in Zydeco timing (and feel to match the music is a little more bouncy) is the opposite slow quick quick slow break or rock step on 7-8! I got it! Thanks again!

  • I fell in love with zydeco music but on this other side of the world (Europe / Hungary / Budapest) I had no chance to learn the dance. So really thanks for this great vid and keep on dancing!

  • thanks again

  • What a wonderful instruction. Very clear.
